I have clicked on a thousand CL postings labeled "track bike" or "track wheels" only to find a rattle can Free Spirit or lunched and sprayed junk wheels. Not last night..I clicked on a listing for "Campy track wheels". The guy had built up a pair of Campy Record high flange track hubs with 20" BMX rims for his son who raced 30 years ago. The oddest wheels I've ever seen. A nice BMX single speed freewheel which came off quite easily. He said that he had them built in 1981 and they had hung in the garage for all these years. The rims, tires and hubs show very little wear, so my guess is that they were used for maybe a season, then retired. Since I was the first to respond to his listing, I'm the first one he called. He lives about 10 minutes from me, so I was at his front door in about...5 minutes.
I'm thinking about sticking them on my son's Mongoose.
