Mark, Then could you please explain why Tron-Berthet would introduce it as a "shock absorber to overcome vertical stiffness" and it be reported on as such?

The later Ideale 90 does have a spring in the nose, but it does not a shock absorber, it just maintains tension
on the saddle top as the screw is tightened.
