The component will turn black if soaked overnight because the Simple Green has a reaction from the salt that is leftover from your sweat that has imbedded itself in the cracks and nicks in the clear anodizing on your components. Castrol Purple Super Clean will do the same thing if you aren't careful.

Now I have noticed that there are 3 cleaners out there that haven't come up on this list in the course of this conversation yet. The first two are related to each other and both are extremely nasty to work with and both do a fantastic job of cleaning grime and grit off. The 1st one is Spray Carb cleaner and the 2nd is Carbon tetra- chloride, affectionately known as Brake Kleen.

The 3rd is called lacquer thinner.
