Thanks to everyone who responded On and Off List.

To clarify for some have asked - My question was prompted by a noted frame builder's comment in a magazine interview concerning road bike fit.

The builder mentioned several important factors one of which is "...to get the proper weight distribution on the bike."  To achieve good weight distribution, "...hands should be positioned over the front wheel axle. This ensures that you don't have too much weight forward or back for even handling."

Yes, "hand position" is vague (re: drops, hoods, flats?) so, I asked the list were there axles align with respect to the bars.

I hope to answer all off list comments soon.

Thanks, again.

Ahoy !

With respect to setting-up several bicycles of various sizes, I am seeking the "Wisdom of The List".

May I ask please: Where does your front axle align with your handlebars/brake lever? That is: as viewed from the side, where does the front axle align fore-aft with respect to handlebars/brake lever? For instance: On one of my bikes, the axle aligns immediately behind where the brake cable passes through the brake lever body.

Thanks.
