Actually Dave stopped building LONG before he passed away. I don't know for sure when it was, but it was in the early 90's or so. I think Dave passed in 2004 or 2005 or somewhere in there. He hadn't built frames for about 10 years. During some of our last conversations, Dave was talking about building some frames again. The last time we talked there was no mention of that. I'm pretty sure Dave knew what his future was at that time. He called almost everyone he knew from what I could tell, sort of to wrap things up.

FWIW, Tesch actually stopped building bikes a couple years before he died.
