I just remembered, in the pictures the seal of the headset is missing, since then I've found it again, so the headset is complete! In its quirkiness of course ...

Good day all,

When thinking about what I should take with me when I'm moving to Thailand (in about 3 weeks) and what not, this Bottecchia frame (that basically fits me) plus Mavic gruppo falls into the category 'its never going to be build up, offer it to the list'.

So here goes, my ADR-Bottecchia teamframe + parts is for sale. I got this as a complete bike years ago (somewhere in Belgium) , but wheels, seatpost and saddle, stem and handlebar where not original to the bike. All the other Mavic parts with which this team fitted the bikes, are there, except for the pedals. Rear derailleur and right side crankarm are laser-etched 'Team 89'. The frame is liberally decalled with 'Mavic' and 'Columbus'. Of course I'd like to know who rode the frame in 1989. Unfortunately several emails to Jose de Cauwer (the then team manager) and Greg Lemond (of course foremost member of the team in 1989, winning the Tour de France in that epic last timetrial, man, that is great history) never replied to my emails. I spoke in person with Frank Hoste, who also was a member of the team, he couldn't tell me much, except that it wasn't his bike (he's too big), and that at the end of the '89 season all the bikes were sold as a lot. So it could have been anyone's bike. But not Lemond's, not his size!

Some details:

Tubing: Columbus TSX Framenumber: 4876 Seattube: 55.5 c-c, 57 c-t Toptube: 56 to 56.5 c-c

Condition of the frame is very good with some chips and scratches. chrome is in very good condition. Please notice the 'fade' treatment of the seatstays and chainstays, I saw this on another ADR-Bottecchia teambike that was on Ebay a couple of years ago, so I consider that normal. Also funny is the combination of the framepump peg on the headtube with the racenumber boss on the toptube. I don'think its possible to fit a pump there ... what were the Italian framebuilders thinking!

Here are the pictures:

I forgot to take pictures of the Mavic brakelevers, but they are included (hoods are dry and a bit brittle). I will also include a NOS set of red Clarks brake and gear cables, to replace the faded ones on the bike now.

Price is 1450 usd, shipping is 85 usd (Prirority, insured, trackable). Please note that insurance is limited to 150 euros, so thats not exactly the price for the sale. Other options (DHL or UPS maybe) could offer higher insured value, but are alos a lot more expensive in the shipping cost itself. And please note that I have never had a problem in shipping frames abroad, in over 5 years and probably 20 or 30 frames. Payment through Paypal only please: faro@cistron.nl.

Thanks for bearing with me in the long story, and thanks for looking! (And if anyone could tap Greg on the shoulder about this ... please do!)
