Subject: [CR] Dating/classifying Campy Hubs

With most vintage Campy components there seems to be fairly straightforward ways (markings, special features, etc.) to identify series and date. As far as I've been able to find, there are no similar guidelines for hubs. I have several sets of old hubs acquired between 1968 and 1989, all have the winged C on the barrel and no other markings or designations. How does one tell whether one is looking at a Record, NR, Tipo or what-have-you? Or is this one of those things, like cross-examination, that can't be learned from a book?
