Yes. I don't know that Jobst ever wore a helmet. He was not wearing one at the time of his accident. I understand from a close friend of his, who has visited Jobst in the hospital several times that the brain injury was not the result of an impact, but rather a stroke caused by a blood clot that migrated upwards while he was in the hospital. I believe his most serious injuries from the accident were a broken femur and ribs. At 72, that's a lot to recover from but Jobst is tough as woodpecker lips. I'll be thinking about him as I ride through that intersection.
