Dale,

Do you have an estimated date for when the switchover will occur? Will the archives be immediately disposed of or will we have time to search and save if needed? I have been using the archives and digest for a long time now, and i believe google does provide a digest format. I also believe they offer more ways to group messages for various folders. Although i have to feel around forever myself to set up the parameters and "rules". I think it will help if other members share set up secrets when that time arrives. Maybe assist each other in the transition so that no one falls through the cracks. Alex has provided many valuable years of service and it is greatly appreciated,

Hi folks: As many of you know, our email list has been a very kind service provided by Alex Wetmore, a private person (vs a company) who just happens to be a cycling enthusiast. He is tiring of the extra attention and problems this has entailed as his many lists (Framebuilders, Touring, etc.) have grown. So, we will migrate this list to Google lists in the near future. I will send out an invitation to all old members; no one will be automatically added. This is good in that this is a large & stable service. Bad in that we will see Google ads, lose the Digest version, and I am not sure about archives (do they exist for Google groups?) In fact, I am not familiar with this Google service from an admin aspect, I have heard there are issues with spamming etc., but we will just have to work through it all. I suspect having no digest, we will lose a few members. C'est la vie, I'm afraid; there is no better option I am aware of... Dale Brown Greensboro, North Carolina USA http://www.classicrendezvous.com
