Thanks to all who responded. The consensus is that this was original equipment on a Schwinn Sports Tourer. This makes sense to me since I have now realized the box where the item was found came from an old Schwinn shop. The outer guard is stamped with the TA logo. There is no marking that I can see on the middle ring but it is too narrow to carry the standard TA stamp. Andy Ruland, Bedford TX, USA
