Tony,
Haven't tried S100 but it looks promising. However, I wonder just how effective a spray on cleaner will work on what your'e talking about. I'm facing a similar dilemma. Working on a pair of wheels obtained with a 63 Frejus. Campagnolo Record hubs with Nisi rims. The wheels had sat, un-used for quite a while and are quite oxidized.
The only thing I've found is that it's a lot of work and drudgery, many hours spent with all manner of polishes and lots of little rags. If your rims were anodized, which is doubtful given the time frame, it presents a whole new challenge. The hubs require a lighter touch of course. I've been using Mother's Mag polish, Simichrome, Flitz ...anything I can think of. And a lot of elbow grease. Very time consuming and I'd be interested to see if that S100 is a magic bullet of sorts.

\r?\n> I just snagged a pair of '50s wheels
\r?\n> that I have been looking for for a long
\r?\n> time. They are Campagnolo Gran Sport (3 pce) hubs on
\r?\n> Weinmann shouldered 27"
\r?\n> rims. As they are drilled 32/40, they are more than likely
\r?\n> English. The spokes
\r?\n> are Cd plated, and the rims are a little corroded. Spokes
\r?\n> are double butted, and
\r?\n> tied & soldered.
\r?\n> What techniques/methods have members used to clean old
\r?\n> spokes/rims? I really
\r?\n> don't want to break these wheels down if I don't really
\r?\n> have to.
\r?\n>
\r?\n> Any and all info greatly appreciated.
