i wear the caradice cape too when it is raining and also shoe covers and wooly tights and i stay pretty dry. but i confess to covet the brooks rain cape, i like the hood with a brim, or as the english would say a "peak" and the shape of it looks good, like it would fit naturally on a lotta different people. my yellow caradice has square shoulders big enuf for a pro football player, and i do mean american foot ball! the shoulders of the thing are always up around my ears and it makes the whole thing so much dorkier, if you can believe a rain cape could get dorkier than it is normally. um, there is no way i am paying 220 english pounds for the brooks no matter how much i like it. that is just craziness. i will remain a dork until the caradice dies....

My yellow Carradice rain cape is effective and useful for my three-mile commute I now ride, sometimes in the rain.
We can deride Brooks' excessive new product without maligning the proud institution of the British rain cape and insulting my preferences. Rain capes may be of no use to you, and I don't find them very useful for recreational riding, but they work quite as intended for certain purposes.
