Margaret and I had always enjoyed the tandeming, except each time I made us a new one, someone would always want to buy it,,,,,and so, when my illness became too severe to work properly ( Muscular Dystrophy ) I decided to make a last tandem and we could enjoy short rides along the canal-bank ( paved ) together..We painted it her favourite blue and we both were very excited when we wheeled it out of the workshop for it's maiden voyage,,,,then, disaster, after about half a mile, I realised that I didn't have the strength to hold the thing straight and we were in danger of falling....sadly, we walked it back home and the next day, took it to a Bike-shop for them to sell it for us.
However, when we were both ultra-active, tandeming was a real pleasure , I could "do my nut " on the front and when we arrived at wherever we were going, Margaret was still there,, on the other hand, if we were on singles, we would both get slightly mad at each other.
When I was healing from a badly broken leg, we still took out the tandem and this time, it was Margaret who " did the donkey " and my legs were simply spinning with her cadence,,,helped the healing greatly.
