I bought a bunch of small item before New Years on eBay UK and most were shipped about the 27th of December. Three still haven't arrived almost three weeks later. Any other having the same experience.
Apparently there was an interesting item in the Sunday Times here in the UK yesterday which made reference to "delays, stating that over 2 million items were lost in the Christmas post and that 3 weeks after Christmas customers are still waiting for their mail. Doesn't mention anywhere in particular, except that a delay to New York is mentioned. Article states that RM loses 600,000 items a week !!!!!!!!!! though I can't really believe that figure. The article also covers claiming compensation and the waste of money using Recorded Delivery". I will try to get hold of a copy and post more information.
I think it is an accumulation of problems which include:
3 weeks of unprecedented bad weather here in the UK
Bad weather in the USA
The normal pre-Christmas rush.
The introduction of additional security measures in the USA.
I have one parcel sent to the USA still not delivered after almost 5 weeks, but others sent at the same to Australia (10 days), Brazil (20 days), and Japan (10 days) have all arrived safely which leads me to believe that the main problem is with shipping to the USA. One recent business forum post states that all packages to the USA are now going by sea, though my friend who works for Royal Mail has not been able to find out whether that is true or not.
