Although posts to the new archive/google group page seemed to be delayed earlier this morning, they are more timely now. The new forum does offer a couple of advantages.
I think the "New Google Groups" interface is easier to work with. If you see a red bar across the top of the group page with "Home" in white on the left side, you can click on a link on the right side of the screen to "View this group in the *new Google Groups*."
In the new interface, there is a column at the left with links to "Announcements," "Recently Viewed," etc. You can collapse this column if you don't need it.
At the top of the message pane, there are buttons to select a few options for viewing or dealing with messages (I like the "compact list view" option).
When you are viewing the posts, you now have the option from the archive/group page to reply to the list ("Post reply" link at the bottom left) or to reply directly to the author ("reply to author"). From the old archives, this wasn't easy to do (without cutting and pasting into a new email, etc.).
I think the threaded message arrangement takes some getting used to, as I am accustomed to the chronological list view; but I suppose we'll get the hang of that.
Hope all of this isn't too elementary to be of use. I had no experience with Google groups until this transition.
