After my triumphant purchase of a green PXN10 two weeks ago, yet another one has shown up on German E-Bay, currently at 58 Euros with only a day to go. It has the same Simplex parts, Maillard hubs and so forth. The item number is 130489074063.
I rode off to my LBS for the first time on my bike yesterday and after we did a bottom bracket overhaul, a minor bit of wheel trueing and some brake adjustments, I discovered that, yes, the French did know how to build bikes. The PXN10 is quite light and handles beautifully and the Simplex Super LJ drivetrain is really excellent, at least as good as the Super Record on my other old bikes. The brakes, Weinmann 605s, on the other hand, are pretty terrible and I will replace them with Mafac Competition brakes shortly. I have all the parts for these except for the cable bracket that is attached to the seatpost bolt. Does any CR Lister have a spare one of these they are willing to part with?
A bientot,
Leslie Reissner Dusseldorf, Germany
