Hello All
I apologize that my first post is a FS post, yet I think the home for this frameset may be amongst this group.
In 1971 I was a freshman at MIT and that fall met Sheldon, who was
working as a mechanic at the Bicycle Revival. I had a Peugeot UO-8 and
Sheldon taught me a ton about bikes and cycling and helped me order my
Bob Jackson Olympus bike in 1972. At the time, Sheldon's road bike (he
didn't have dozens of bikes back then) was an older French frame
called an OTB (you can read about its history here:
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/
After Sheldon died, I visited his wife (a wonderful person and
accomplished cyclist, who I actually knew before she met him). She
asked if there was any of his bikes I was interested in, and of course
the OTB came to mind. As you can see if you read the link above, at
this point he'd converted it to a gazillion speed bike. I bought the
bike, stripped the stuff off it, had it stripped of the brush-coat
paint job to inspect for damage, had a small repair done at the seat
lug, and had it powder-coated red to honor his taste (see the frame he
built for himself in 1974 - http://sheldonbrown.org/
About 3 months ago I bought a 1988 Nagasawa road trainer (not old enough, I know, yet couldn't Nagasawa-san be considered KOF?) Now I have two fixies, and the 56x53 Nagasawa fits me perfectly. The OTB, like my Bob Jackson, has too long of a top tube for my middle-aged body, and I don't need two fixed gear bikes, and I don't like to own bikes I don't ride.
So - I'd like to find a home for the OTB, with someone who will love that it's a unique 50+ year old French frame, owned and prized by Sheldon many years ago.
Some measurements and details - ST - 57 C-C 58.5 C-T TT - 56 C-C HT - 14.5 CS - 42-43, varies (horizontal dropouts) WB - 100.5, varies Sheldon says angles are 72 degrees.
It has the seatpost, headset and bottom bracket that were in it when I bought it. These are nothing special, but they fit this old French frame.
