I the winter I ski and row on an erg. Once the snow and ice and mag chloride get off the roads and trails I ride my off topic mountain bike 3 days a week, my off topic road bike (Giant Defy Advanced carbon frame, full dura ace 7900, dura ace 7850 carbon clinchers) 2 days a week and rotate through the following bikes on the 6th day (and on the seventh day I rest :-) )

1. 1984 Masi Gran Crit 2. 1972 Masi Gran Crit 3. 1972 Cinelli SC * 4. 1970 Peugeot PX10 * 5. 1973 Schwinn Paramount * 6. 1980 Rossin Record * 7. 1968 Geoffrey Butler 8. 1981 Gios Super Record * 9. 1983 Ciocc San Cristobal

I've been on a tear this winter building my collection. All the bikes marked with an asterisk are new this winter and have only been ridden on the trainer or on real short rides. I am going crazy to put some miles on them but there is just too much crap on the side of the roads even when the snow melts back a bit which it hasn't been doing much lately.

With an approximately 28 week riding season I should get to ride each of the vintage bikes about 3 times each or 50-75 miles each. I would probably ride the vintage bikes more but given their period correct gearing (42-52 x 13-23 or 14-24 or even 13-17) they represent a real hard workout over my usual hilly routes. My modern bike has 39-50 x 11-28 gearing which is much more comfortable. My modern bike is also a much more upright design which is more comfortable for my neck and shoulders which have issues from past motorcycle and skiing crashes.
