Good morning all. I enjoyed and learned a lot about vintage bikes by reading the groups posts. Its fascinating reading about the vintage bikes and equipment that are being restored, but it got me wondering. How many ride on a regular basis what do you ride? Do you ride, do I dare use the word, a carbon bike, or are you on a metal bike? Where and how often do you ride?
As for me, I ride almost daily in Mohave Valley, Az which is in the north west part of the state. My goal is 100 miles a week. Mohave Valley is an interesting place to ride. The county does not own a street sweeper or have any bike lanes. The favorite past time on weekends is throwing beer bottles out the window. The only tires that will hold up are Specialized Armadillos. The advantage to the area is that I go the the back roads and ride old Route 66. I have about 200 miles of the route in the area.
I bought my first non metal, read carbon, bike in November a Specialized Roubaix DA Pro. So far so good, but the biggest disadvantage, for me, is it that it is very light compared to my last bike and the wind, especially in the canyons, moves it around quite a bit.
