Seems to me that pumping up a road bike tire to 150 -170 psi (10.3 -11.7 kPa) would largely do away with all the ride (suspension) advantages of mounting pneumatic tires. Might just as well return to solid rubber shod rims - as on penny-farthing bicycle wheels.
"All-Condition" Armadillo tires from Specialized (indestructible, high mileage, 700 x 25c commuter tires) have recommend inflation of 115 - 135 psi. which I still consider absurd. I never inflate them above 90 psi. Even at this inflation, and especially because of their very rigid sidewalls, they still produce a VERY harsh ride. A trade-off which I knowingly accepted for riding over 4,000 city miles (...and counting) without having suffering a single puncture.
