Georg, Pacific bike corp bought out GT, Mongoose and Schwinn. What they put out now are found in the toy department in the big box stores. You may have a nice bike. Shimano 600 ( Ultegra ) is pretty decent. I have it on a couple of my off topic bikes and have always been pleased. I especially like the 600 Arabesque.
