Howdy folks,

While we're on the subject of unusable forks, I thought I'd post a link to some pictures of one of my creations...a standalone bathroom tissue holder made from a bent Gitane fork and an inexpensive Ikea lamp base.

The tubing coming from the base of the lamp was threaded and seemed to be made for screwing right into a French-spec fork. and I had the little wooden bushing just lying around, can't recall what that was from. I did have to spread the forks a bit to accommodate the width of the TP roller, which I drilled out and fitted with a rear Atom skewer (I think for a 5-speed/120mm spacing). The slotted end of the roll holder slides right into the fork ends!

So...there's another use for the mongrel forks kicking around your workshop.
