I recently acquired a set of Hi-E hubs. They are 28h with a low flange front and a Hi/Lo rear. I was browsing some of Robert Broderick's material about Hi-E on velo-pages and came across this:
"249 Spoking Other Than Radial- Unless otherwise specified, rear wheels are spoked with our recommended pattern which at is 3 cross for 16, 18 or 20 (on rt), 4 cross for 22 or 24 and 5 cross for 28."
I'm a bit confused at the 5 cross right side for 28h. I know Hi-e liked the radial/cross pattern on drive/non-drive, but how does 5 cross work for 28? Is this a crows foot pattern?
Hoping someone can explain.
