Hi Gang,
Ebay outing...my bike:
To cut through the BIN price/make an offer malarkey, I'd like 800 for the bike for a member here OR...and what might be more attractive...are trades. I'd gladly trade for comparably valuable components, frames 53-56cm (I tend to liking 70s-90s American customs), and love listening to interesting offers.
I also have, not listed for sale yet, a 1978 Raleigh Professional in Team colors. The bike is a 53-54cm ST...can get TT measurements on request. It has a Campy SR group, Brooks copper rivet pro saddle, leather brooks wrap, Cinelli bars and stem. Condition is excellent. I'd probably be more interested in selling frame/fork only. This is Carlton built according to the serial number.
Couple weird niggles...the fork is not original...it's a Reynolds 531 fork, red, off of an ikelston bike. The PO put on a black fork from a Raleigh Competition and used that to replace a CF fork his PO had put on. It was NOT replaced because of accident or failure. I changed out the black fork in an attempt to get it closer to original. The current fork isn't a perfect color match. I've debated having a frame builder repaint, but haven't done so yet.
The rims are 27inch clinchers laced to Campy SR hubs. Gentleman Super Clinchers...the pre-Wolber brand. I do have a 700c set of Campy wheels (I think Mavic rims) we could discuss as a replacement.
I put on a replica Reynolds sticker on the ST and used the wrong one. Sorry, it was before I knew better. This was the ONLY change made to original status and the frame looks DAMNED good. This frame is 531db throughout.
I'd probably be more interested in selling, or trading, the frame/fork only...but would consider selling the whole thing for the right offer. Figure I'd want $350 for frame/fork...let me know if that's seriously off as I don't have a good feel for its value. On the one hand, the fork isn't original. On the other...it's an Ikelston fork and would probably be quite valuable on its own.
