Subject: [Classicrendezvous] Audax & Generator Bosses

I'm contemplating an Audax/Randonneur machine, possibly purchasing one, but more likely modifying a suitable old road bike. Either way, I'd like a brazeon generator (dynamo) boss, but I have a question in that regard. I note that older British bikes with dynamo bosses usually have them brazed to the right fork, which seems logical in a nation where one drives on the left side of the road, as this places the light on the side of the bike closer to oncoming traffic. But what about French bikes? Since the French drive on the right, do Singers and Herses with generator brazeons usually have them on the left fork blade?
