Subject: [CR]Campy derailleur question

I have a question regarding the cable housing for a Campy Nuovo Record rear derailleur ( pat 73). I reassembled the Masi GC I recently aquired in order to take it for a spin. When I reattached the derailleur cable I noticed there is a recessed hole that the cable passes through, but is much larger than the cable. I assumed the cable housing ferrule would fit into the recess, but the one I have doesn't. Is this the way it is supposed to fit or should the housing fit into the recess? Seems to me it should. If it should, then I need to find the proper cable housing.
