Subject: [CR]Protar bicycle model

I finally started building one of the Protar bicycle models... I'm using Coppi's 1953 Bianchi, but converting it to represent my favorite bike - Fiorenzo Magni's 1949 Tour de France-winning copper Wilier with Cambio Corsa.

(please see: http://www.netcowork.it/artcult/ghis04.jpg)

I immediatly found a few things that could use improving, and since I'm filing away all the derailleur-related brackets and such, I want to get it as accurate as possible.

Has anyone else built (or started to build) one of these kits? If enough people are interested, we could creat a temporary mailing list, to share tips and progress reports, and perhaps trade some extra parts.

I have a bag of Evergreen-brand .5mm styrene rod, to replace the gigant cable housing that's provided in the kit. Send SASE if you'd like a 14" sample (that's over 10 scale feet!)

Also, if you own the Saronni Colnago kit, you'll need to ignore some of the instruction sheet. I'm certain he never used the sliding rod Gran Sport front derailleur on that bike!

Please contact me off list.

Aldo Ross
