I would think Mike Kone would be an excellent opinion to hear on that subject. To make such an esoteric comparisson would require hopefully the ability to have a few of each to judge side by side. I feel that Singer might be subject to a bit more inconsistency in workmanship in contrast to Rene Herse, from what I've seen.

I've never been particularly attracted to Alex Singer as compared to Rene Herse, don't know exactly why though. I think mainly a matter of styling. The nicest Singer I've ever seen belongs to JFC, but it is clearly more refined than an original. I'm always charmed by the Herses I've seen.
