Duane/group:

A 753 Team Pro cyclocross has got to be super-rare. I've never even seen one. Very cool.

The 753 & 531 Team Pros were sold through Raleigh dealers to the public in pretty small numbers, as they were not cheap in 1979-1980 ($660 was retail for a road 753 frameset I think). I was working at the Midwest HQ of Raleigh then, and we usually had a small number of 753s in stock, with most being special orders, or team bikes for sponsored US teams. Michael's in Ames Iowa got a lot of them (it seemed) at the time.

Greg "I guess you can sorta tell that I like Team 753s" Parker

P.S. The Teams were available only as a frameset at that time. SR was pretty much the de facto equipment of choice, since that's what Cyrille Guimard's boys in Le Tour were running. The only decisions were to Ti or not Ti the BB and pedals. The Tour bikes usually ran SSC rims as I recall. The framesets came in three color schemes: Team, midnight blue/black, and all gold. My Team that I bought new in 1979 is the blue/black version.

RE: [CR]Raleigh Team Pro CYCLOCROSS??

Hi boys & girls,

Does anyone on the list know anything about a Raleigh Team Pro cyclocross frame? Anyone have one? I just picked one off eBay, that looks to be all original paint & decals, & in nice shape, but has a non-original fork. This one's a 753 tube set, and really light! I'm wondering about the history of the cyclocross model (and all Team Pros), and if they were available for retail sales, or just "team issue". What components were used on them? As always, thanks for any info! Cheers,

Duane Kennard
