There are pretty big differences in the castings as the molds wear in use and are replaced. Most notable is the dimple texture in the shifters and in the diamond-shaped clamp of the Record front derailleur over the years. The shapes of the pivot pieces on the Gran Sport, Record and Nuovo Record rear derailleurs also vary quite a bit. I don't know how you would actually tell the year of manufacture from any of these subtile differences though...
