OK, I shot off the email too fast. I was thrown by the locknuts. Should have looked at the simple stuff:
1. Campy track hubs I've seen don't generally have oil hole covers. Lee has seen them. It would not be hard to drill them and put covers on a pair of track hubs though. Seems like a reasonable modification that a track rider might make if he was going to use oil.
2. Hard to see, but there is not a ($30) lockring and it does not look like the threads are stepped.
3. The oldest Campy track hubs I have are dated 1981. I picked a low flange hub out of a pile of wheels for dirt cheap, primarily because the hub barrel was so long. The distance between the hub flanges is wider than a front hub. On this hubset that is not so. But they might have been made narrow since I have no tech data, and have not seen any prior to 1981 models.
4. The locknuts I guess must be on a skewer (see the springs) and they are not threaded on the axle.
Sorry, I had my Cinelli M-71s for a long time before I knew what they were (now traded away).
