Apologies to the list for hyping the 8 Bridges ride in Kansas City and then wimping out, but a family obligation has arisen that will require my presence elsewhere Sunday morn. My wife has been asked to play a flute offertory of "God will Find a Way" at Sunday's church service, and asked me to accompany her. Not the kind of thing you can miss.

I must also beg pardon because one of my messages about 8 Bridges mentioned Saturday as the ride date, not Sunday (tomorrow). If anyone was misled, my humblest apologies.

But all the news is not bleak, as this Saturday's Old Town Cyclery ride had one of the highest classic bike contents ever, 50%! Of course there were only 4 riders, but Sarah's Rivendell and my refinished '78 Trek (making it's maiden voyage) classed up the peleton. A nice 25 mile ramble through neighborhoods and local bike paths showed that I managed to get everything on the Trek installed properly, and aside from one rear wheel slip (keep those quick releases tight, especially on newly painted frames!), everything worked great, a testament to friction shifting. I will attempt to get some pictures posted when I get the film in the camera developed.

Good luck to those who are riding, and keep the rubber side down.
