Bruce, pre-Edwardes Gillotts have the last two digits of the year as the first two digits of the frame number. e.g. 56xxxx is a 1956 frame. The following digits were an ongoing sequence number. I have the original order forms for two made-to-order frames and no model name was quoted. I regret that I don't know if they generally used model names or not. Interestingly, these orders did not even specify the tubing, other than one of them specifying a 531 decal in the list of transfers. The other frame, in its original finish, does not have a tubing decal.
