Couple of reasons I can think of.

1. Not enough info. For example, it reads like there are no pictures available. The unforgivable sin on eBay is to not have a decent picture, and on a lugged bike to not have some closeups of the lug work. Also, what color is it? Any chrome? Contrasting color on lugs or head tube? Curious minds want to know.

2. No curly stays and plain lug work. Why buy a Hetchins if it looks like a Jackson? If I'm buying a Hetchins, I want the stays to sweep in voluptuous curves, and the lugs to be positively Olde English style in doo dads and swirls. A plain Hetchins is a "rider", and thus the price is perhaps a bit high.

3. Big size, yeah probably a bit of a problem. But I've sold three bikes in the past year in 61-64 cm sizes, so it can be done.

4. But the big issue is: Wrong advertising outlet. Putting an ad on a Hetchins web site means it's probably going to be seen by a few, and many of them already own one. Better post it on Classic Rendezvous and Bicycle Trader where tons more folks will see it. I bet it sells in a month, if this notice to the CR list doesn't move it. If I had the dough, she'd be here in a flash.

Hi All, Friends of mine have been running the following ad since last fall on the unofficial Hetchins website http://www.flashq.de/hetch03.htm:

"For sale: ITALIA, frame no. H10462, circa 1972. 61cm seat tube, 58.5cm top tube. Straight. Made in England and Reynolds 531 transfers on seat tube. Plain long point lugs with double plate crown and italianate seat cluster. Original paint, few scratches, no dents or rust visible. Full bike with Campy NR derailleurs, shifters, Campy headset, BB, cranks and hubs. Center pull brakes. Currently 700C wheels on orig 27" wheeled frame. Prefer to sell as whole bike but will discuss separation of parts and frame. US$ 900. (ad placed Nov 2000)

Contact Paul Williams (USA) cyclepgw@jps.net"

They and I are curious as to why it hasnt sold. Would expect many of you will have seen ad. Would any of you be kind enough to pass on your reactions? Things we're curious about - size relative to only a few? No curly stays? pricing? Whole bike instead of frame alone for project? Not trying to lead any answers here and love
to hear more thoughts.
Thanks
