I was a Fuji dealer at that time and the Newest sold moderately well. They were hand built by one guy at the Fuji factory. Some of the bikes broke while being raced and they demoted the builder. They are all chromed (although not all polished under the paint). I loved the "Ever Onward" chainstay decal. What I want to get eventually is the Fuji Pro that followed the Newest. Nervex or Nervex type lugs and Suntour Superbe equipped. Later they had all Campy Super Record.
