I realize Campy Victory is a little new for CR, but since friction shifting is part of my definition of vintage road gear, and the frame in question is a 79 Raleigh supercourse, I thought I'd give it a go here. I have my supercourse set up for randonnee riding with a wide range Campy Victory double crank (36/52--yes I know that duplicates quite a few ratios with any cogset you try), suntour barcons, and a non-vintage suntour long cage rear deraileur. It shifts great even in the middle of a sleep-deprived night ride. Who needs indexing! I'm wondering how well the original Victory rear deraileur would handle the chain slack created by such a big jump between the two rings. It was made to go with this crankset, but that doesn't mean it worked well. I'd like to complete the Victory group (though I'll never sacrifice the beloved shifters), but not at the expense of function. Opinions?
