Cr listees

I had a Gazelle tour de L'avenir years ago. I picked it up for $40 with another frameset at the hershey auto show. It was Huret equipped and I used it to beat around downtown Harrisburg for deliveries. It was perfect because it looked beat up around the edges and no one gave it a second thought to steal it(except for the headbadge which disappeared once). I know it was low on the line of quality and I remember the tubing stickers reading "Continental lugs and tubing" but the huret components worked well for the bike and it road very nicely and comfortably. My friend Bertrum had a very nice Gazelle with half chrome rear stays and a chrome fork. Not sure on the tubing of that model. It was very nice in a pearl white and he had it campy equipped.

I don't think they're considered second or third tier in Holland. Gazelle is still in business in the Netherlands. Once belonged to Raleigh, then Derby, then sold to I don't know who. Now seems to be a separate company once again. They have a website: http://www.gazelle.nl/ However, not in English. They were imported here(USA) at one time I believe. Renaissance cycles has a couple on the "Frames and Bikes" page. http://www.renaissance-cycles.com/ One in my size would be tempting. Maybe BC could comment on how they're constructed.
