As to when was the end of the Regina Ti chain era (or is that "error"?): I remember during the buildup to the '84 Olympics, probably in '83, the USCF put out a call for some Regina Ti chains to use for the US team bikes, as they were no longer available through wholesale or retail channels - they were looking for hoarders.
