Well I hate to say, this is not true!! I've visited the Merckx factory several times and I got the full run of this place with Bob, I believe the operations manager and the warehouse manager (Just can't think of his name as of right now!) I saw places where others are not permitted! If there was any of this material to be found I would have seen it, and grabbed it while I was at it!........Flat fork crowns, the warehouse manager turned the warehouse upside down looking for these things..........The only thing he was able to digg up was several chromed forks with these crowns! Believe me when I say there is nothing to be found there is nothing to be found!! I also checked if these forkcrowns were available elsewhere, without any luck. I checked because I had inquiries from frame builders
Bob had people bringing things out of the wood work for me! Yes, I'll want that and no I don't want that!..................This is where I scored 800 plus pairs of NR brake levers with fresh hoods! I found 3 flats of 50 pairs!!.............And I said ''Right on!'' we are happening!!..............Then the warehouse manager says to me!! We................have more!...............Come with me, I will show you!..........He wasn't joking! 2 visits, we dragged out 12 to 14 pallets!! I even scored ''EDDYs!'' Maillard freewheel boxes one was 5 speed only and the 2nd was 6 and 7 speed!..........These were sitting under 3 of the old mans race bikes!.Bob says!!.......Oh you can have these, EDDY doesn't need these anymore!............A grand total of 80 brand new bodies with the cogs to build them up!! You name it and I grabbed it! You probably all know what happened to this stuff....it all went up in smoke with the fire we had in November 2000.
So please don't be getting your hopes up to high, because it's not true! Just thought I'd get in here fast, because this is where an aunt hill gets turned into a ''MOUNTAIN!'' If I could I'd have them build these framesets up for Renaissance cycles, but we can't because these materials are not available to work with! So the only thing we have to work with are the rust buckets hanging on the walls. Just thought I'd get in here fast, don't want anybody loosing sleep over thinking ''WOW!'' I can get an Original Molteni Replica!
On another note: To those who are waiting on goods, we are working on cleaning up these loose ends before we go on vacation...Anybody who wants to check with me please do so..................Back to work!............Life is good!!
