I'd like to introduce myself. I've been in the NYC area for about 50 years. I never joined a bike club but routinely took 25 - 50 mile bike trips on weekends just for the pleasure of the ride. I haven't been active in the last few years. My bike never needed any special attention except oiling and air, so I'm not very technical about bike parts or engineering. I am trying to get some reliable information about my bike though. It is a Claude Butler Electron Super Five racing bike I bought in 1968 from an English graduate student who told me that it had been custom made in the early 1960s and had what was then the lightest frame in the world. It has 6 speeds off a single derailer. The seller said he had had a special low gear put on so he could ride the hills of Scotland. It also has what seems to be an original West Ham Speedway decal on the frame put on at the time of manufacture. The bike is currently in good condition except (for flat tires) with all the parts it had in 1968. It is a great riding bike and I think it deserves to have its real information (as opposed to possible seller's hype) preserved with it for its next owner. Can any one tell me more about this bike, where I can get additional information about it, and approximately what its replacement value for insurance purposes is? I can provide more information, such as wheel size and the names on different parts, if necessary. Thanks for your time. C.J. Scheiner
