Jan, and Chuck, It happened with Hutchinson, the tyre company. It was founded by an American Engineer named Hiram Hutchinson waaaay back in 1853 in the Montargis Region of France.

....They started with rubber boots and moved into tyre production. ****************** Michelin (Bros.) were in manufacturing and started making tyres in 1889 ****************** Wolber started in 1898 ******************
