Mike,

Well the complete history is that I picked up this bike at a Police auction about 6 or 7 years ago. It had mostly Campy 50th on it (a few SR bits as well, all gone to other projects), and although it was a bit too large for me I bought it anyway. I rode it a few times (short 1-1.5 hr rides) and decided it was just too big. It rode like almost all the Marinonis I have (I have 3 in my size). Solid, stable, neutral. Perhaps a bit more solid that what I normally ride, (I usually ride 55 and 56 cm frames in SL, I'm 145lbs) and I know Marinoni favoured SP for larger sizes, so I'm fairly certain this is SP.

The scratches all seem to have been products of the 'handling' while in Police custody. Judging from the paint (colour and decals) I'm also fairly certain that this was repainted in the early-mid eighties.

Having not spent a great deal of time on this bike (and it was a while ago) I can't recall anything special about the way it rode, other than that sense one has while riding that the size is not right!

Personally I'd say Marinoni's steel frames are under rated, perhaps because they're as common as they are in these parts and perhaps because elsewhere they're virtually unknown. I'll copy the CR list and perhaps other might chime in on how well they like or dislike Marinonis.

Hope that helps.
