Rob Hawks wrote: Hi, I recently picked up a used bike for parts, in part because it had (older) Phil Wood hubs which I wanted to use on my commute bike. When I took the bike apart at home I found that while the frame is 126mm rear spacing, the Phil Wood rear was only 122mm. So, I'd like to trade this older Phil Wood rear for a 126mm or, short of that if someone needs/wants this but doesn't have one to trade, I would sell it. To give you an idea of the condition, I believe this hub to be in perfect mechanical condition, however the center (stainless?) steel section has some rust spots. The flanges will clean up very nicely but show evidence of having been built before.

There is a quick workaround for your problem, Rob: just glue a couple of washers to the left butt end of the Phil washer. Elegance would use a serrated washer (?). Of course, the Phil hubs were highly modular, and there are different stub ends available to respace: tandem folks sometimes did this. You'll have to decide whether you want to space on the left (leave it 5-speed w. less dish) or the right (6-speed). I have some of the parts lying in a box, so maybe you and I should talk offline.
