The spoke protector disk (Campagnolo part #24 for 4-speed or #55 for 5-speed) is a necessary part of the Cambio Corsa or Cambio Paris-Roubaix gruppo. There's no limiting screw on either mechanism, so the disk is the only thing keeping the chain out of the spokes.
