To put the pros and cons of these dropouts in perspective, look at the vertical dropouts produced by Campag. Thin stamped plate ends which had to be built up with the addition of a thickening plate brazed to the inside of the drop out to space them correctly for a QR skewer. This cheap design perhaps encapsulates Campags opinion of them. Race mechanics will know the problems associated with trying to achieve a rapid wheel change with vertical dropouts, not a patch on a slick change with carefully prepared 1010B's. I am a Campag man, does it show!
