What will you/Rivendell use instead of 753 ?

Just curious,

Reynolds has announced that they will no longer be offering 531. This isn't a big surprise. They've been phasing it out but it still sucks. For a few years, 531 hasn't really been listed as an offering but it was regularly available as a special order. Rivendell almost exclusively uses 531 fork blades. I guess we'll be switching to 525. It's the chrome-moly equivalent so that's fine but still a piece of history is going away. Also since 531 is going away then so does 753 which is heat treated 531. We've been using this for years on Rivs. We have a stock pile of the stuff but when it's gone, that's it. One more piece of history gone. I guess I should stop whining and get out of the way of "progress."
