The seatpost to which Mr. Bilenky refers was made for only a couple of years, and came stock on the Colnago Super Pantografata, for which I have an original brochure, which shows detail pics of all the cool milled and panto'd parts that came on that bike.

That bike, and that post, were made from 1972-1974, near as I can tell. The Mexico was issued in 1975, and the seatpost that came in a Mexico had a new milling scheme. That particular scheme seems to have remained current until about 1979 or 1980, or, whenever the Arabesque came out, because at that point the milling scheme changed again.

So, the post on ebay would be appropriate on a Colnago Super from 1972-1974. They're not common. The one on ebay is a bit crusty, but still a nice piece. It appears to have the original paint, but only close inspection would confirm that. Note that it's a shorty post. Colnago had both sizes of posts available in milled versions. The long ones are quite rare, and I've not seen one of those for sale separately in the last 6 years, on ebay or anywhere else I've looked. The shorties are a little easier to find, but not much easier.

Sorry if this offends, but I have a question about this auction for a Colnago pantographed Campagnolo 2 bolt post:

The seller claims it's circa 1980, but I'm guessing it's more like mid 70s. Does anyone know for sure? The reason I ask is that I have one just like it that I acquired a few years ago for a song, and I've always wondered what year Colnago it would be most appropriate on.
