Hello Gang,

To make a comparison, really you can't. The International Mike bought for $350.00 in 1974 in good condition can bring over a $1000 today, NIB examples have sold for $2000.

Mike, the Fuji which is very laudable as we discussed will unlikely hold it's value as well over time.

Naturally all the alloy frames will have broken in 28-29 years and after WW3 it may be one of the few bikes remaining in circulation.

By the way Mike, your International is a valuable bike. I'd trade 2 or 3 Fuji's for it.

( Note , I'm not posting anything FOR anyone . I'm just quoting someone whose comment seemed interesting . )

Comment from a non-list friend of mine , about the brand-new 25-pound thoroughly-modern steel-framed Fuji for less than $ 300 , and I quote :

" The free market works! With the development costs being recovered years ago for very high quality steel tubing and the longevity & dependability of the product, steel bikes will ultimatley return because they make economic sense.

Just guessing, but $350 in 1974 was about the same as $1,000 today, so this would be like being able to buy a quality steel bike, but with more sophistication, in 1974 for under a $100! "
