The Elites seem to be prone to failure on the inner face due to spoke tension. Maybe the material is too brittle, maybe the wall is too thin, but I've seen a few failures and they are relatively rare rims. The MA40 is a similar looking rim that is more durable. It is mid 80's to late 90's so it is even less correct for your bike. If you want a truly correct narrow, box section clincher rim, good luck. The only one I can think of that may have been available in the mid 70's was the Super Champion Gentleman. Correct clincher tire???? Forget it.
