I have a pretty extensive collection of original mail order parts catalogs from the 70's/early 80's and only my 1977/1978 Palo Alto Bicycle Shop catalog lists a Ti chain.
Regina Titanium - "This is the lightest chain manufactured. Titanium side plates, with hardened pins which reduce wear." 255 Gms. $139.98
As a comparison, also offered:
Regina Record Superstar - "For 1977 Regina introduces this new model chain. This chain is identical to the Regina Record Oro except that it recieves the "Kanigen" treatment before assembly. This is a nickle diffusion process, not a plating, which insures perfectly rust-proof performances and harder surfaces to highly increase wear resistance." 346 Gms. $49.98
Regina Record Oro - "This chain was designed for Merkx's Mexican World Record. The plates are beveled, and a small hole is drilled in each brass link. The plates are also slimmer than the standard oro chain." 346 Gms. $15.98
Regina Oro - "This is the same as the Supercorsa except that the plates are brass plated. This gold plating improves the aesthetic appeal and increases shifting smoothness with the oro freewheels." 388 Gms. $8.98
Regina Supercorsa black - "This is a well known high quality derailleur chain designed for smooth shifting." 395 Gms. $4.50
So relatively speaking, the Ti was VERY expensive, not quite on the order of $300 as suggested, but still out of reach for all but the most wealthy leightweight weenies.
